Well, for streaming, no, HTTP is not ideal, but unless we can get multicast deployed, there's little alternative. Likewise, you could easily build a better protocol than HTTP - HTTP sucks - but the trouble is that you can't build one sufficiently better for HTTP's core and close use-cases that people actually switch.

Yeah, but I think we should get this stuff sorted now, rather than trying to back-fill it later. There's lots of cases where someone wants information to be public but not indexed or repeated.

A remove option might be nice. We should really consider some kind of "robots.txt" equivalent for XMPP, in the long term.

Yeah, I've got a PXE server, and I used it (ages ago) to install my workstation (which was Debian, from a time when the Debian amd64 installer was, well, interesting). So I've got DHCP and TFTP all setup and ready to go, just need to remember what files go where.
